Created by Laurie Anderson with designer Hsin-Chien Huang, Puppet Motel is an experimental CD-ROM work that treats early multimedia technology less as a game than as a navigable audiovisual environment. Eschewing conventional gameplay in favour of nonlinear exploration, the project casts the user adrift through looping imagery, fragmented narration, ambient music, and associative digital spaces that capture a moment when performance art and the emerging internet briefly converged into a new artistic form.
